Cornbelly's 2010 - a Brock, Gage, Tif, Drew & now John tradition

My favorite Halloween tradition that I love more than Halloween is our annual tradition of taking the boys and their friends to Cornbelly's out at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah. I think that this was our 6 or 7th year going there. This tradition was started before Gage was born! For the past 2 years we had taken both of Brock and Gage's friends Drew and Domi, but this year, I decided Gage was old enough to bring his own friend, so he invited John Lyman. This year was the longest we'd ever spent at Cornbelly's. We were there from 10 -6 (8 hours). Cornbelly's does become haunted at night, so I decided I had to force the children to come home with me, they could have easily stayed there another 3-4 hours. We didn't even travel into the Corn Maize this time, and that takes about 1-2 hours before becoming so frustrated that you can't find your way out and give up. Drew and Brock did their own (older kid stuff) like Gem stone mining and pumpkin tetherball. Gage and John enjoyed doing all the things that Brock used to love doing when he was a lil guy. Please enjoy the following pictures depicting all the many fun activities at Cornbelly's.
Haunted Hayride (you get to view intricately carved jack o'lanterns during this ride

Pedal Go Karts
The famous Cow Train
Inflatable Haunted House Maze
The famous Bouncing pillow (there were 3 sizes of them this year)
The Grain Train (cute little carts pulled by a tractor)
The Duck Races
Mini corn maize for "little babies"
John sliding down Hay Mountain
John venturing up Hay Mountain on one of the many ways you can get up there
Eating our traditional lunch around one of the fire pits
Playing Cornball (like volleyball, but with a large cornball and hay bale net)
The Cornsnake entrance
The 80 foot long inflatable "Creature" Spook Alley *it is very dark with scary/loud noises and some animatronics inside during the day when it supposedly isn't haunted
Playing inside the large cornbox, Brock getting buried in the corn. Note: after children are done playing in this, you will find dried corn kernels inside your house for weeks.
Pumpkin tetherball *there are 5-6 poles, Brock and Drew played this for hours
Pedal Tricycle course
Gemstone mining *Brock and Drew spent hours doing this too
This is what happens to rule breakers at Cornbelly's, my kids make it here each year
Gage getting buried in the corn
Playing tag on another Hale Bale Mountain with tunnels that go through it
Gage spinning the activity wheel to see what to do next
the famous Chicken show *love it
some of the carved jack O'lanterns during the hayride
swing set thing made of pieces of tire *extreme difficulty staying on
John trying to rope this anvil thing

Activities not pictured:
The Corn Maize
Pig races
Pumpkin Cannons
Pumpkin Patch
The Haunted Cornophobia Cornmaize
Pumpkin Paintball
The Cornbelly's Hall of Fame

We are already for Cornbelly's 2011. Thanks Brock, Gage, Drew and John for the memories! Note to parents: You will love the activities just as much as your kids. Live a little, let down your hair and enjoy. This is worth every penny, I promise!

Brighton Chalet Getaway

July 2010, Brighton Chalet 2 night, 3 day stay in the Studio.

We were practically staying on the edge of Brighton ski resort's parking lot! It was a relaxing getaway. Our studio Chalet was a pretty cool joint. I did not like the strange wallpaper though.

I found a "running loop" that I fell in love with up there that was .9 miles long. Yes, I did run every morning, and I enjoyed every second of that beautiful, clean mountain air. Brock, Jon, and Gage had been introduced to the stupid addictive game called "Angry Birds" just days before our stay and they couldn't get enough. One afternoon decided to have a family hike around Silver Lake, the lake was circled by a boardwalk and was well signed. This was a highlight of our visit. About 30 minutes into the hike, Brock started complaining that he had to "poop", I will not call it #2, in our family it's "poop" - hey, I could call it worse (lol). I didn't want to walk all the way back to our chalet, so I told him to hold it! :) mean huh! The boys enjoyed scaling and climbing up this rock wall. It was a very relaxing and fun walk around the Lake, although I dressed to run around it. It was much better enjoying it with my 3 boys. We made it into a fun, 2 hour adventure.

Brock, Gage & Jon on the top of the rock

Gage at base of the Rock

The cute boardwalk around the Lake, I wore my running attire in case I wanted to run, but just enjoyed being with my family instead!.... ahhhhhh

Possibly reading about the native plants, animals, or fish of Silver Lake

Breath taking views

This is why Brock couldn't go and poop in a bush or in the Lake! :)

Brock reading the No Pooping sign and thinking "dang it, I really wanted to do it in the Lake"

Cute pic of G & Dad

Another pic of climbing the rock

playing on a log

Tif & her little loves

I love these boyz

Happy lil G

Gage and Brock liked watching all the squirrels outside the chalet. There is a sad story at the end of our stay. Once upon a time, there was a squirrel named Nutsy. He lived up at the very top of Big Cottonwood Canyon at the Brighton Chalet Resort. He decided to crawl up inside the Kortman's warm car underside one night when they came back from dinner. He stayed there all night because it was cold up in the canyon. The next morning he didn't wake up in time to jump out of the car engine, so he rode home to Salt Lake Valley with the Kortman Family. He waited for the family to be safely inside their home before he dared to leave the car. The next day he was thirsty and so he climbed into the Kortman's back yard and sensed alot of water in the swimming pool. He accidently fell in and drowned. His bloated and stinky body was discovered days after and was pulled out by Jon and thrown in the garbage can. The End.
